Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer and consultant, a columnist syndicated, speaker, author, and TV show host. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company within a short time. Corcoran, one of ABC's first Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. At times, her family relied upon deliveries of food for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls that her father was an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran was a troubled student throughout school. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at a Catholic primary school. Corcoran was a failure in several courses in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
