Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first vice president to be female and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California from 2011 to 2017 and a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was appointed by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and campaigned for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons as well as progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings has garnered the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
